Facts

Economy
Vast natural resources combine with a huge labour to create an emerging economic superpower, especially in agriculture. Sustained strong growth has pushed the crisis of the 1980s behind and has stabilized the economy. One great challenge will be to increase agricultural space without traumatizing the precious Amazon and Pantanal ecosystems - stewardship versus exploitation. Ther is a vast gap between rich and poor, but this improving signicicantly.

The statistics are meant to give an impression, not to stigmatise. Statistics taken from "Operation World, 7th edition, 2010", see also www.operationworld.org
